Jamieson Avenue Bridge Replacement Project over I-44

The Jamieson Bridge reopened on November 23, 2011. Crews are still working around the bridge to complete construction. Although work is mostly completed, crews still need to paint the bridge girders.

Why are Improvements Needed on the Jamieson Avenue Bridge over Interstate 44?

The Jamieson Avenue Bridge over Interstate 44 was built in 1971 and carries over 15,000 vehicles per day. It has deteriorated beyond the point of performing maintenance repairs to the bridge deck. The Jamieson Avenue Bridge needs to be removed and replaced.

How Will Traffic Be Impacted?

Jamieson Avenue over Interstate 44 was fully closed to pedestrians and vehicles from July 13, 2011 until November 23, 2011 when the bridge reopened to traffic.

There will be various lane closures on Interstate 44 on weekdays and weekends during off-peak travel times. The removal of the bridge will require lane closures on I-44. The interstate ramps to/from Jamieson Avenue will remain open for the duration of the project.

Detour Routes

Motorists are urged to use I-44 to Hampton as a detour.

The signed detour route for local traffic is Fyler, to Watson to Arsenal.

MoDOT does not recommend using Ivanhoe or Bradley as a detour.

When Will Construction Begin?

The project is expected to begin July 13, 2011. The Jamieson Bridge was opened to traffic by late November 2011. The entire project will be completed by early April 2012.
