The Interstate 55 bridges at the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad

 

     JEFFERSON COUNTY- The Missouri Department of Transportation and its contractor Gershenson Construction Company, Inc., will close one lane on northbound and southbound Interstate 55 at the BNSF Railroad bridge in Festus beginning Tuesday, July 26, weather permitting.

• Crews will begin closing the lanes at 6: 30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26 through Thursday evening, July 28 to construct temporary bridge bypasses.  All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. the following morning.

• On Friday, July 29, one lane of I-55 in each direction will close beginning at 6:30 p.m. for removal of sections of the existing bridges. The lane closures are expected to end by noon Sunday, July 31.

This project consists of construction of new northbound and southbound bridges on Interstate 55 between Herculaneum and Festus. This project is expected to be completed by late 2012.
