What is the problem?

The existing Lemay Ferry Road was designed with a raised shoulder for vehicles in case of car trouble or an emergency. The raised shoulder is being used as a sidewalk, but the existing shoulder is narrow, crumbling and does not meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance.

What is the proposed solution?

MoDOT is designing a project to replace the east side of  Route 267 (Lemay Ferry Road) sidewalk. The new sidewalks would be six feet wide and constructed of concrete. Pedestrian push buttons would be added at traffic signals, obstructions in the sidewalk would be reduced to a minimum, islands would be modified for wheelchair access, and curb ramps would be constructed at the entrances to make Rooute 267 more ADA accessible and pedestrian friendly.

The estimated cost of this project is $1 million.
