Construction Impacts: I-270 over I-44 rehabilitation of bridges
Bridge rehabilitation work will take place on northbound Interstate 270 and southbound I-270 in 2011.
During the rehabilitation of these four bridges:
Work will occur around the clock on both weekdays and weekends. The area of construction will be from Route 30 (Gravois Road) to north of Interstate 44 (near the railroad bridges).
During the week, crews will work on the driving surface of the bridges, with concrete barrier in place. Lanes will be reduced in width. The posted construction speed limit will be 45 mph (currently 60 mph). There will also be shorter merges to exit and entrance ramps. All lanes of Interstate 270 will remain open during hours of heavy traffic.
During the weekends, crews will work on the resurfacing of the bridges. Two lanes of Interstate 270 and the ramps to Interstate 44 will remain open during the weekend closures- all remaining lanes will be closed.
During rehabilitation of the bridges on Interstate 270 northbound over Rott Road and Interstate 44, Highway 141 will be retimed to handle additional weekend volumes and to mitigate congestion.
