Heroes Way Interchange Program:

During the 2009 Legislative session, Legislation was passed to enact the Heroes Way Interchange Program. This program allows for Missouri’s state highway interchanges to be designated honoring fallen Missouri heroes who have been killed in action while performing active military duty with the armed forces in Afghanistan or Iraq on or after September 11th, 2001, and who was a resident of Missouri at the time he or she was killed in action. Any individual who is related by marriage, adoption, or consanguinity within the second degree to the member of the United States Armed Forces who was killed in action may apply for an interchange designation. An interchange may only be designated in memory of one fallen soldier. Two signs shall be erected for each interchange designation. The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission sets the fees for these memorial designation signs. Before completing an application, please contact the Missouri Department of Transportation at (573) 526-0117 to confirm availability of the desired interchange.

The current fee for two signs is $2,200.00 due with submission of the application.
