MoDOT's Mission:
Get You Back on the Road |
 |
| When winter weather hits, the Missouri
Department of Transportation's snow-removal crews are ready
for action!
MoDOT has more than 3,000 MoDOT employees
and 1,600 pieces of equipment ready to fight winter storms on the
state's 32,000-mile highway system. If necessary, MoDOT hires emergency
equipment operators to help during snow and ice storms
and moves staff to the areas most impacted by winter weather.
With plows, spreaders and de-icing materials
in place, we'll focus on getting roads plowed as soon as possible. Drivers should also do their part by slowing down and driving for winter weather conditions. And while we adjust our efforts to deal with each storm's unique characteristics, you can be sure that when the snow is flying, MoDOT crews will be out in force.
Drivers can find out what they’re up against by getting the latest road conditions from MoDOT’s online Traveler Information Map located at www.modot.org. Travelers can also call MoDOT’s toll-free number, 1-888-ASK-MODOT (888-275-6636), to get road condition information. |
