This section is in the preliminary design stage to add lanes to Route 36 to make it a four-lane highway; these plans should be complete by December 2004. This section is not currently funded for right of way purchasing or construction. The project involves adding xx.x miles of two-lane highway, making Route 36 four lanes between Monroe City and Macon County.

Location study was completed in 1997. Environmental assessment completed in 1998. Preliminary desing is currently underway and should be complete by December 2004. There is no funding for additional engineering beyond that.
