In District 4, with Amendment 3 funding, we have improved the most heavily traveled routes. Five years ago, only 53 percent were in good condition; today that is 82 percent.  At the same time our less-traveled routes over the past five years have held steady at 52.3 percent to 55.8 percent now.

Two new programs are allowing us to improve roads and bridges on our less-travelled routes:  Safe & Sound Better Bridge Program and the Economic Recovery Act funding.

More importantly, these projects help stabilize and increase jobs in the area. Each $1 spent on transportation genterates $4 in economic development.
