Improving Minor Roads

Online Meeting: How Is MoDOT Improving Minor Roads?

What to Expect During Construction

Will roads be closed?

Generally, all the roads remain open during resurfacing, but may be reduced to one lane with a flagger or pilot car directing traffic. This means delays and occasional quick closures of both lanes. Contractors normally finish all of one direction before turning and going the other direction. For short durations of five to ten minutes during the construction, your driveway or side roads may be blocked as they pave in those areas.

When will work start?

All the contracts have been awarded and construction is in progress in some areas.  The web site will keep you updated on where construction is starting. In addition you may notice lane closures ahead of the contractors as maintenance crews fill pot holes and rutting.

What time of day will work be going on?

MoDOT expects  mostly daytime work. You may need to add time to your commute while paving is being done on your routes.

Will you be adding shoulders?

This project focuses on improving the existing driving surface of the 340 miles of minor roads. At this time we do not have the money to add shoulders, straighten curves or change the road elevation.

How can I find out the latest?

The best place to keep updated is to check the web site. Once construction begins we will keep you updated on the progress. You can also become a fan at Facebook or join us on Twitter.
