Retired General, NBC News Analyst To Headline Interstate Forum
Retired U.S. Gen., NBC News Analyst and HNTB Federal Services Chairman Barry McCaffrey will be the keynote speaker at a public policy forum examining the plight of Missouri’s interstates.
Titled “Our Interstates at 50: A Midlife Crisis,” the forum will be held June 22 at the University of Missouri-Columbia in conjunction with the nation’s celebration of the 50th anniversary of the interstate system. Interstate Forum
Officials to Evaluate Statewide Transportation Priorities
Local officials from across the state will convene May 19 to help MoDOT determine Missouri’s high-priority road and bridge needs for the state’s next transportation improvement program. During the meeting, representatives and local officials from each of MoDOT’s 10 regional districts will focus on specific needs of major routes in terms of the connectivity and operation of the statewide transportation system. Citizens Complete Planning Initiative for Missouri’s Transportation Future
More than 100 Missouri citizens from across the state assembled for the final work session of the Missouri Advance Planning (MAP) initiative, a statewide effort to update Missouri’s long-range transportation plan. Regional Working Group members finalized their ideas regarding statewide transportation needs, trends and conditions, and improving Missouri’s transportation policies and strategies. MAP
New Tracker Tackles Transportation System Challenges
An updated Tracker document is using the latest data and evaluations to analyze Missouri’s transportation system. The publication contains 112 performance measures that help determine whether Missourians are getting a good return on their transportation investment, and where improvements are needed. Tracker
Youth On TRAC For Transportation Careers
MoDOT is playing an important role in generating interest in transportation careers among young people. MoDOT volunteers and local schools are working together on the Transportation and Civil Engineering or TRAC program, to introduce students to engineers and other transportation professionals who use math and science principles to build and maintain our nation’s transportation systems. State Employees to Get Pay Raises
There was good news for state employees in the recently ended state legislative session. The new state budget includes a four percent pay increase for all state employees. It is awaiting the governor's signature. The raise would take effect July 1.
Rahn Comments on Missouri's Construction Season

Practical Design Solves Today’s Transportation Needs
By using “Practical Design” when planning highway construction projects, MoDOT will customize projects to fit specific needs, rather than apply generic standards across the board. Using this new concept for highway design that was unveiled last summer, MoDOT will save nearly $400 million over the next five years. The money saved will fund additional projects.
